What is Xtream Codes?
Xtream Codes is the login most IPTV providers use: a server address, a username and a password. Instead of one long list like an M3U file, the player asks the server for each part separately, live channels, films, series and the programme guide, with posters, descriptions and ratings.
The original Xtream Codes software was discontinued years ago, but its login format, known as the Xtream Codes API, is still what providers and players use today.
How to add an Xtream Codes login
- 1
Find your details
Your provider sends a server URL (like http://example.com:8080), a username and a password.
- 2
Sign in to your device
Scan the QR code on the TV, or open Manage playlist with the MAC address and device key.
- 3
Add the playlist
Choose Xtream Codes, enter the server URL, username and password, and press Test connection. Save, then press Refresh on the TV.
Test connection: your account at a glance
Before you save, Test connection asks the server about your account. OSM PLAYER then shows whether the account is active, when it expires and how many connections are in use, so you know straight away whether a typo or an expired subscription is the problem.
What you get with Xtream Codes
- Live TV in your provider's categories, with what's on now and next from the guide.
- A films library with posters, ratings and descriptions.
- Series with seasons and episodes.
- Fresh content without re-adding anything: press Refresh and what your provider added appears.
Already have a get.php link?
Some providers give the Xtream login as a single M3U link: http://server:port/get.php?username=…&password=…&type=m3u_plus. Paste it as an M3U link and OSM PLAYER spots the Xtream Codes details inside, then saves it as Xtream, so you still get films, series and the guide.
Common Xtream Codes login mistakes
When Test connection fails, the cause is almost always one of these:
- The server URL is missing its port or its http:// at the start. Copy it exactly as your provider wrote it, for example http://example.com:8080.
- A space slipped in before or after the username or password when it was pasted.
- The provider moved to a new server address. Ask them for the current one.
- The account has expired, or every connection it allows is already in use. Test connection shows both.
Xtream Codes or M3U?
When you have the choice, Xtream Codes is better on a TV: content arrives organised, with artwork and the guide included, and large libraries open faster than one huge M3U file. M3U is still handy for small lists or providers that only offer a link. OSM PLAYER plays both, and you can keep both on the same device.
