What you need before you start
OSM PLAYER is a player only. It doesn't sell channels, so the playlist always comes from your own provider, and you should only watch content you have the right to watch.
- A Smart TV or streaming device connected to the internet: Samsung (Tizen), LG (webOS), Android TV or Google TV, or Amazon Fire TV.
- Your playlist from your IPTV provider: an M3U link (often ending in .m3u or .m3u8, or containing get.php), or Xtream Codes details, meaning a server URL, a username and a password.
- A phone or computer, to add the playlist without typing it on the TV remote.
Step 1: install the player on your TV
Open your TV's app store and search for “OSM PLAYER”. Each TV has its own store, and its own guide:
- Samsung Smart TV: Apps, from the Home button.
- LG Smart TV: the LG Content Store (Apps).
- Android TV and Google TV: Google Play.
- Fire TV Stick: the Amazon Appstore.
Step 2: add your playlist from your phone
When OSM PLAYER opens, it shows a MAC address, a 6-digit device key and a QR code. Scan the QR code with your phone's camera: it opens your TV's page on this site, already signed in. No camera? Open Manage playlist, enter the MAC address and device key exactly as the TV shows them, and sign in.
- 1
Choose the type
Xtream Codes if your provider gave you a server, username and password; M3U if you have a link.
- 2
Fill it in
Enter the server URL, username and password, or paste the M3U link. You can add an EPG link for the TV guide and a PIN to lock the playlist.
- 3
Test and save
Press Test connection: it confirms that the server answers and shows your account's status and expiry date. Then save.
Step 3: press Refresh on the TV
Back on the TV, press Refresh. OSM PLAYER downloads your playlist and opens it: live channels by category, the guide with what's on now and next and, with Xtream Codes, films and series with posters and episodes.
Whenever you change something here later, adding a second playlist, changing a password or removing an old one, press Refresh again and the TV follows.
M3U or Xtream Codes: which should you use?
If your provider offers both, choose Xtream Codes. It sends live TV, films and series separately, with details, posters and the guide, which makes browsing on a TV much nicer. An M3U link is one long list, which OSM PLAYER sorts by the categories inside the file. Read more in our guides to the M3U player and to Xtream Codes.
If it doesn't work
- This site says the MAC address and device key don't match: check both on the TV. The key has 6 digits; the MAC address has 12 letters and numbers.
- Test connection fails: check the server URL, including http:// and the port, and your username and password. Your account may have expired; your provider can tell you.
- Nothing changes on the TV: press Refresh in OSM PLAYER after every change.
- Channels buffer or are missing: the streams come from your provider, so contact them first.
